Blu-Ray writers are down to $300. At 200 I bought my first CD burner, and similar for DVD burner. The curious thing this time is that AFAIK the Blu-Ray readers/players themselves still aren't down to these price points. My guess is that part of the expense is that it requires some serious computing power (the first BR standalone players had 1+ Ghz chips in them IIRC), which dropping a burner into your computer avoids.
Could the economics of this be the thing that finally drives home media center adoption (e.g. combining computers with TV/movie activities for most people, because it is a few hundred cheaper than separate boxes)?
